You can compare Sicily with the south of Spain; they have similar climates, culture and ways of life.

However, except for the above, everything is different.

Sicily is an island with mountains close to the beaches, the coast is already overdeveloped and there is not much plain land for New Spanish style developments.

The limitated space and a population of around 4 millions makes difficult to build large new developments. You will not find purpose built holiday homes with swimming pool and tennis courts. Not yet anyway.

What you will find are beautiful traditional homes, ruins to restore to your liking, vineyards, land with olive trees and orange groves and of course historical building to restore. And of course, the possibility of integrating and becoming part of the local community
