Not everyone realizes that Sicily is part of Italy like the Isle of White is part of England, only much bigger.

Economically perhaps in Italy the South is the less wealthy and the North is the more advanced with its industries and it’s ever expanding metropolitan cities. Sicily has no industries left and its economy is mainly based on tourism.

Until now Italians came from the wealthy north to buy properties in Sicily, pushed by the good weather, better food and low cost of living, compared with the more expensive regions like Tuscany or Umbria.
